Q&A with Melissa:

What gets you up in the morning?

The chance to learn something new and  to help others to define, and achieve, success – whatever they define that to be. And good coffee, that helps me get out of bed!

What was your motivation behind joining the Startmesh Team?

  • Being part of a global network of super smart people
  • Working within a business model that itself is novel and disruptive, and meets a market need
  • And the chance to help change the conversation for Kiwi startups, to see their market as global, and that it is accessible. And of course, to assist the others to bring great innovation to NZ.

If you could have dinner with any one person, living or dead, who would that be and why?

Anita Roddick – she was a force to be reckoned  with! She passionately advocated for ethical business, and built a multi billion dollar empire from scratch all while balancing her family life, and campaigning for the environment. She spoke up for those that couldn’t and balanced commerce and conscience beautifully.

What is one of your “can’t live without” systems/tech platforms you rely on on a daily basis?

Slack and Spotify are as essential as coffee!  Google Apps is great and l love that with an iPhone it’s easy to have 7 different email accounts at your finger tips. Really enjoying ‘Hype Type’ for quick, dynamic content too.

What is one thing that we wouldn’t know about Melissa Davies…from her LinkedIn profile?

That I unapologetically like country music, and greatly enjoy a long drive on an open road, with some Jason Aldean or Zac Brown Band playing really loud!
